Connect a waitlist to your email audience
Use this extension when manual exports no longer meet your needs. Tally collects the signup, Zapier transfers it, and Mailchimp manages the audience. Check paid limits before turning it on.
Good fit: A founder who needs automatic subscriber transfer and is ready to maintain an integration.
Finished means: A fresh public-form signup reaches the intended audience with the correct email and subscription status.
What this setup covers
email capture · automatic transfer · subscriber management
- Tally → Zapier: New Submission trigger
- Zapier → Mailchimp: Add/Update Subscriber action
Before you start
- Working Tally form, plus Zapier and Mailchimp accounts.
- A Mailchimp audience and a clear subscriber-permission policy.
- A test address you control and time to inspect each integration step.
Plan limits and costs
- Zapier Free lists 100 tasks/month and two-step workflows. Confirm that your selected actions and any filters fit that plan before enabling the integration.
- Mailchimp Free lists 250 contacts and at most 500 email sends/month, with a 250/day cap. Marketing automation flows are not included. Collecting a contact is separate from sending a welcome sequence.
- Paid Mailchimp prices depend on contacts, currency, and offers; get the quote for your audience. Tally’s free collection remains subject to fair use.

If something goes wrong
- A contact never appears.
- Check the published Zap, selected form, run history, and audience. A successful trigger does not prove the action succeeded.
- Email is blank or mapped incorrectly.
- Map the current Email field using a fresh trigger sample, then retest before publishing.
- A contact has the wrong subscription status.
- Pause the automation, correct the mapping and permission rule, and retest using your own address.

Setup guide
- Tally: Create a form with a short product description and an Email field marked required. Ask only for information you need. State what signing up means and link to your privacy information. Use the copy worksheet below as a starting point. (Create your Tally form)
Check: The form asks for a valid email and explains what the person is signing up for.
- Mailchimp: Open the audience you intend to use. Review required fields and how people will agree to subscription. Keep campaigns paused while you test the connection. Do not treat every imported contact as subscribed by default. (Open your Mailchimp audience)
Check: You know the destination audience and the intended subscription status.
- Zapier: Open the Tally and Mailchimp integration template. Connect the accounts, choose Tally New Submission as the trigger, and select your published form. Submit a test response and load that record in the trigger test. (Open the Tally → Mailchimp template)
Check: The trigger contains your test email from the correct form.
- Zapier: Choose Mailchimp Add/Update Subscriber. Select the intended audience and map Tally’s email value to Email Address. Configure required fields and subscriber status according to the permission actually collected. Test the action and inspect the contact in Mailchimp. (Configure the Mailchimp action)
Check: The mapped address and subscription status match your test response.
- Zapier: Publish the Zap only after its tests pass. Send a new submission through the public form and inspect both the Zap run and the destination contact. Test the same address again and inspect the update behavior. Check task limits and failure notifications. (Review integration testing)
Check: A fresh signup transfers successfully, and you know how failures and repeats are handled.
